Australian Young Composer Program: nurturing emerging composers
Supported by the Di Jameson Family Foundation, the Australian Young Composer Program is a new national initiative designed to nurture emerging composers at a formative stage of their creative development.
Delivered in partnership with Logan City Orchestras, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, and Queensland Youth Orchestras, the 2026 pilot will engage up to 30 high-school composers in a structured program of composition classes, mentored development sessions, live orchestral readings, public performances, and professional recordings.
A dedicated Voices of Tomorrow stream supports female and gender-diverse participants. By connecting young composers directly with professional musicians and ensembles, the program builds practical skills, confidence, and clear pathways for future creative careers, with plans to expand nationally.
